Acceptance Standards Of A Good Mold (Ⅰ)

For making a good mold, not only need good design and precise processing, but also need "standard". In the mold, the concept of "almost" is not allowed. So for a good mold, what acceptance standards should we achieve? Here is the list:

1. Mold surface

*the content of mold nameplate should be intact, clear, and orderly

*the nameplate should be fixed in mold support leg, which around mold plate and reference angle; and the name plate should be fixed firmly, and not easy fall

*for the cooling water nozzle, should using plastic block nozzle, or made as customers requirements

*the cooling water nozzle shouldn't extend to the mold base surface

*the cooling water nozzle should be machined with counter bore, the diameter is 25mm, 30mm, 35mm three sizes, and the chamfer should be same in every hole

*there should be marked in and out on the cooling water nozzle, the English characters and numbers should be clear, artistic, neat and space evenly, and be located under 10mm of the nozzle

*the mold accessories shouldn't influence the mold lifting and storage, there should be supporting legs to protect the exposed oil cylinder, nozzle, prereset mechanism, etc.

*the supporting leg should using screw to fix on the mold base, if the leg is too long, should lathe it and then fix it

*the ejection hole size and mold outside size should be matched with injection machine requirement, except some special molds

*the locating ring should be fixed firmly with the sizes are 100mm or 250mm, and above the plate 10-20m, except some customers requires differently

*if there is direction requirement when mold installing, should be marked "UP" letter with arrows in yellow and 50mm height on mold plate

*there shouldn't be any defect on mold surface such like pit, rust, redundant rings, etc.

 

2. Mold steel and hardness

*the mold base should be standrad

*the steel of molding part and gating system(core, fixed insert, moving insert, sprue spreader, push rod, sprue bush) should using which performance more than 40Cr

*if the raw material is easy-corrosive to mold, the molding parts should using corrosion-resistant material, and take measure of anti-corrosion on joint face

*the hardness of molding parts should more than 50HRC, or make more than 600HV surface-hardening treatment 

 

3. Ejection, return, core-pulling, pick up

*when ejecting, there should be smooth, no stagnation, no abnormal sound

*the lifter surface should be polished, and it should be under core surface

*there should be oil groove in sliding parts, and make nitriding on surface to achieve more than HV700 hardness

*there should be spline positioning on all ejection rob, and every ejector rob should have serial number

*should using limited block to limit the ejector distance

*the returnning spring should using standard component

*there should be stroke limited on slider and core-pulling, the small slider uses spring to limit, for oil cylinder core-pulling system, there must have limited switch

*for slider core-pulling system, usually using angle pin, and the angle should be 2-3° less than clamping surface angle

*if the width of slider is more than 150mm, there should be wear plate under slider, the hardness should be HRC50-55 after heat treatment with T8A material

*the ejector rob should not move up and down, if there is barb on ejector rob, the direction should be same and be easily removed from product

*the product should be taken out from mold easily

*there should be no acrap iron in oil circuit

*the return pin should be smooth with no welding 

*there should be air venting at the bottom of the guide bush

*there shouldn't be any gap on locating pin 

 

4. Cooling, heating system

*the way for cooling or heating should be unblocked sufficiently

*there shouldn't leakage under the pressure of 0.5MPa, also need to easy for repair

*the size and shape of oil groove on mold base should comply with relevanat standards

*when storaging the mold, the seal ring part should apply the butter, and higher than mold base

*the space between water and oil way should uses material which is corrosion-resistance
