BASF ® The Little Chemist Chongqing Station activity was officially launched at the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, marking the tenth year of the project's arrival at the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum. This year's BASF Little Chemist event will revolve around the themes of "green printing" and "climate protection", bringing two interesting interactive experiments, combining education with entertainment, guiding children to explore the mysteries of chemistry in daily life, and leading them to pay attention to the important issue of sustainable development.
BASF has long been committed to promoting popular science education for children in China. In 2002, BASF introduced the Little Chemist activity to China, and as of the end of 2022, over 200000 children had participated in it. At the launch ceremony of the Chongqing station, 24 children from the surrounding communities of BASF Chongqing base were invited to participate. They experience the magical charm of science through interactive experiments.
Dr. Yang Nuowen, Vice President of BASF and General Manager of BASF Polyurethane (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., said, "BASF is committed to providing safe and interesting scientific experiences for children through small chemist activities. This year's experimental theme coincides with BASF's consistent concept of sustainable development. We look forward to children fully enjoying the fun of chemistry during the activities and stimulating their creativity and curiosity
At the launch ceremony, BASF also announced the donation of 300 science popularization picture books titled "Cooling the Earth - Being a Low Carbon People" to the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, which will be targeted to support the science popularization education activities of the museum.
Chairman of Chongqing Science and Technology Museum Management Co., Ltd General Manager Zhu Jiayi said, "We believe that science education is crucial for cultivating the creativity and innovation ability of young people and children. We are very pleased to be able to co host a series of small chemist activities with BASF, creating a scientific world full of exploration spirit and experimental fun for children. In the future, we look forward to continuing to cooperate with BASF to carry out more and more innovative science education activities
In 2008, BASF Little Chemist made his debut in Chongqing and made his appearance at the "German China Peer" event. Since 2013, BASF has collaborated with the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum to jointly promote this summer popular science education activity for students in Chongqing and surrounding areas. This year, more than 50 college students from well-known universities such as Peking University, Zhejiang University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Ningbo University, and Southwest University will become on-site volunteer teachers to guide children in completing experiments.
