The basic structure of Plastic Injection Mold
According to the effect of each component on the scientific molding process, it can be subdivided into the following parts:
1. Injection mold parts
Molded parts refer to the parts that constitute fixed and movable mold cavities. Usually consists of punches (or cores), dies, inserts, etc.
2. The pouring system of the injection mold
The gating system is the channel through which the resin plastic flows out of the injection molding machine and enters the cavity. It consists of the main runner, branch runner, gate, and cold well.
3. The guiding mechanism of the injection mold
The guiding mechanism can be divided into the type between the movable die and the fixed die and the type of the ejector mechanism. The former is to ensure the accurate connection of the movable mold and the fixed mold when the mold is closed, so as to ensure the accuracy of the shape and size of the parts.
4. The ejection mechanism of the injection mold
The device used to eject the plastic parts from the mold when the mold is opened, also known as the ejector mechanism. It has various structures. But the common ones are thimble, top plate, and top tube.
5. Lateral parting and core pulling mechanism of injection mold
When the part has bumps and holes or lug bosses on the side, it needs to be formed with a punch or core. Before opening the mold and pushing out the part, the side punch or core must be pulled out or ejected from the part, so that the plastic part can be ejected smoothly. The mechanisms that help move the side punch or core are called side parting and core pulling mechanisms.
6. Heating and cooling system of injection mold
In order to meet the temperature requirements of precision molds and molds, the temperature of the injection mold must be controlled. In this case, a cooling system is usually provided and heating is installed in or around the mold. The cooling system is usually realized by setting a cooling water circuit on the mold.
7. Injection mold exhaust system
In order to exhaust the air in the cavity during the injection process, an exhaust system must be provided. Generally, a plurality of ventilation holes are specially opened on the parting surface. In addition, the gaps created by the pins, plates, and tubes of the die can be used for venting. Due to its small exhaust volume, the small parting surface can be used directly for exhaust without vent holes.
8. Other parts of injection mold
Parts used to fix and support formed parts and parts that play the role of positioning and limiting.
