News From Brazil, Braskem Is Committed To Achieving Carbon Neutrality
Brazilian polyolefin producer Braskem has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality in its global operations by 2050 as part of a series of new sustainable development goals.
Among its latest goals, Braskem will continue to focus on expanding its "I'm green" product portfolio. The goal is to sell 300,000 tons of recycled products per year from 2025, and to reach 1 million tons from 2030. The company will also work to remove 1.5 million tons of plastic waste from the environment that has been incinerated and landfilled by 2030, and reduce carbon emissions from operations by 15% by 2030.
The CEO, Mr. Roberto Simoes, said: “Plastics plays a vital role in society. We believe that the strategic direction of our latest sustainability commitments will enable plastics to continue to play its role in advancing innovation and providing sustainable solutions. effect."
Braskem's "I'm green" brand was born in 2010, meanwhile it was industrialized production of green polyethylene using sugarcane as raw material. Braskem developed this recyclable product at the innovation and technology center of the Triunfo petrochemical complex in Brazil.
Currently, this series of products includes other solutions made from post-consumer plastic waste, as well as reliable sources of biological substrates, including environmentally friendly EVA.
Braskem's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality focuses on three pillars: emission reduction, offsetting and emission capture.
