Salomon, a leading global outdoor sports professional brand, launched the Salomon Index.02 series of products, the bottom of which is made of BASF thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) Elastolan ® It is made with supercritical fluid (SCF) foaming technology.
SCF foaming technology can make the gas disperse evenly and produce uniform foam with fine pore structure, which can significantly improve the mechanical properties and low density.
Since crosslinking agent or chemical foaming agent is not used in the foaming process, the midsole can be recycled after use. At the same time, its production process requires less energy, which helps to reduce the overall energy consumption. In addition, Elastolan used in Salomon Index. 02 also does not contain plasticizers.
Renaud Guillot, an engineer of Salomon footwear materials, said: "The durability and stability of the produced foam can be improved by using Elastollan and supercritical fluid foaming technology. This makes Salomon Index.02 sneakers reach a new height in standards and helps runners to play their ideal level. This powerful combination helps Salomon achieve its mission of creating high-performance and sustainable footwear."
Zhao Minli, vice president of consumer goods industry of BASF Asia-Pacific Characteristic Materials Department, said: "Elastolan, as a perfect material solution, provides outstanding performance in footwear applications, such as high mechanical strength, durability and comfort. Through SCF foaming technology, we now provide a new cushioning performance for sports brands - which is an innovative victory for the footwear industry and sustainable development."
Salomon Index. 02 series will be sold on the official website of Salomon.com from February 2023.
